Synthesis of Flowerlike g‐C3N4/BiOBr with Enhanced Visible Light Photocatalytic Activity for Dye Degradation

Abstract: In this work, flowerlike g-C 3 N 4 /BiOBr Z-scheme composites were constructed by a simple solvothermal method. The physical and chemical properties of the material were characterized mainly by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and UV/Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The photocatalytic performance of the as-prepared samples was measured by degradation of the model organic pollutant methyl orange (MO) dye and rhodamine B (R… Show more

“…Rapid industrialization and a global economy are the reasons behind numerous contradictory human-environment interactions like pollution, which occur time and again, degrading the quality of life on the planet. [1][2][3] Oil spills have now become common worldwide due to the alarming increase in exploitation, production and transportation of crude oil to meet human needs. 4 Crude oil, a complex mixture of saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons, poses detrimental threats to human and environmental health and well-being.…”

“…For DUPG, 532.41 eV is considered to [MO] initial : 10 mg dm À 3 ; volume: 100 ml; 400 nm < λ < 680 nm); (b)Changes in XRD before and after five cycles be surface-adsorbed H 2 O, while the peak of DUPG/BiOBr-0.5 shifts to lower binding energy, mainly due to lattice oxygen and hydroxyl groups, which facilitate photocatalytic reactions. [38] Accordingly, as shown in the figure, at the binding energy of 158.92 and 164.22 eV, the Bi 4f spectrum can be decomposed into two spin-orbital compounds. The DUPG/ BiOBr-0.5 composite material belongs to the two binding energies of Br3d of about 67.62 and 68.72 eV.…”

“…Based on this, Jiang and his coworker synthase a flowerlike g-C 3 N 4 /BiOBr with oxygen vacancies. [38] It gives almost complete degradation with good stability after irradiation under visible light for 120 min. In summary, a BiOBr/ g-C 3 N 4 heterojunction can effectively inhibit the recombination of photogenerated carriers and improve the activity of the catalyst.…”

“…More importantly, its unique layered structure allows the formation of 2D/2D Van der Waals heterojunction with g-C 3 N 4 . In addition, the BiOBr/g-C 3 N 4 hybrid has already been investigated by theoretical and experimental research as photocatalysts (Jiang et al, 2018;Qu et al, 2020). It has been proven that the BiOBr/g-C 3 N 4 hybrids show superior photocatalytic activities in degradation of dyes and organic pollutants.…”
