Synthesis of Eu3+-doped Gd2O3 in hollow nanoparticle structures by controlled chemical etching with poly(acrylic acid)

“…For Eu 3+ -doped Gd 2 O 3 HMNPs, the band around 1500 cm -1 attributed to -COO -stretching vibration almost disappeared, confirming that the PAAS templates have been removed successfully from the obtained HMNPs.In addition, the peak appeared at 550 cm -1 which results from the Gd-O vibration of cubic Gd 2 O 3 is obviously found from the curve of Eu 3+ -doped Gd 2 O 3 HMNPs[43].The aforementioned results strongly suggest that the PAA@Gd(OH)3 /Eu(OH) 3 precursors have successfully converted to Eu 3+ -doped Gd 2 O 3 HMNPs during the (curve b), which further affirm the transformation from amorphous PAA@Gd(OH) 3 /Eu(OH) 3 precursors to highly crystalline Eu 3+ -doped Gd 2 O 3 HMNPs. Furthermore, all peaks of the resulting HMNPs match well with the reported values for cubic Gd 2 O 3 crystal (JCPDS No.43-1014)[44]. The energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) results, as shown inFigure S1, display that the main elemental compositions of the nanocomposite are Eu and Gd.…”
