“…According to the previous literature, the formation of Bi 2 Fe 4 O 9 is thermodynamically favored. 46 The XRD pattern of BFO (see Figure S2) confirms the formation of Bi 2 Fe 4 O 9 , characterized by an orthorhombic structure with the Pbam space group (JCPDS No. 25-0090).…”

“…Deconvolution of Bi 4f spectra reveals two components: the Bi 4f 7/2 and Bi 4f 5/2 peaks appearing at ∼157 and ∼162, respectively, correspond to the Bi 0 valence state, while peaks appearing at ∼159 and ∼164 eV, respectively, correspond to the Bi 3+ valence state, representing the Bi−O bond. 37,46 Dominant peak intensities corresponding to the Bi 3+ valence states suggest that the primary chemical state of Bi in CeO 2 /PPy/BFO NH is +3. Similarly, the Fe 2p spectrum reveals the doublet peaks at ∼710 and ∼724 eV corresponding to Fe 2p 3/2 and Fe 2p 1/2 , respectively, indicating the valence state of Fe as +4.…”

“…Various methods have been employed for the fabrication of these semiconductor sonophotocatalysts, some of the most common being; co-precipitation ( El-Sawy et al, 2022 ), hydrothermal ( Kumaresan et al, 2020 ), sol-gel ( Leroy et al, 2020 ; Norabadi et al, 2020 ) sonochemical ( Anandan and Ashokkumar, 2009 ) and the solvothermal ( Rashid et al, 2023 ) method. The focus of this review is to showcase the advances that have been made in the application of sonophotocatalysis in water and wastewater treatment, thus these synthesis methods are not detailed.…”

“…Here, ultrasonic waves, which are a highly efficient, clean, and eco-friendly technology, have aroused a lot of interest in catalysis. 12,35 The ultrasonic oscillation generates the cavitation effect, further promoting the generation of reactive radicals. The ultrasonic waves have abilities to clean the surface of the catalyst and accelerate the mass transfer.…”

“…The ultrasonic waves have abilities to clean the surface of the catalyst and accelerate the mass transfer. Therefore, the incorporation of photocatalysis with sonocatalysis organizes a sonophotocatalytic (SPC) system, in which the synergy effect of photocatalyst, ultrasound waves, and optical irradiation together promotes the improvement of the overall catalytic performance 12,35–37 . For instance, the reduction of heavy metal ions Cr (VI) was executed over Al‐MOF [Al‐TCPP(M),M = H 2 and Zn] under ultrasonic waves and visible light irradiation 38 .…”
