Synthesis of Calcium Ferrites and Their Properties

Abstract

SynopsisTypical calciumferrile clyslals were succesifllily synlhesized by Ihe so/idliquid reaction method which seems sUjJerior to Ihe convenlional solid-slate reaction method ill obtaining large and pC/feci clystals. Synlheses were carried out starling with each of the mixtures of CaO · FC 2 0 3 , 2Ca O · FC 2 0 3 , Ca O · 2Fe20 3, 4Ca O· FeO . 4Fe 2 0 3 , 3Ca O · 1'eO· 7Fe,0 3' and 4·Ca O· FeO · 8Fe 2 0 3 • Optical projJerties, r~(leclivily , etching eJlecl, m.icrohardness, and X-ray diJJractioll pattern, were examined all Ihe .rylllilesized calcium fe rrites.
