Synthesis of Anticogulant Warfarin and Its Derivatives by the Crude Earthwarm Extract

Abstract: This article describes the synthesis of warfarin and its derivatives by using the crude earthwarm extract as a biocatalyst. Warfarin, an effective anticogulant being used for half a century, has enormous clinic and commercial value. Warfarin and its derivatives are usually prepared through chemical catalysis while biocatalysis was rarely explored. Because biocatalysis is green, sustainable and usually under mild conditions, it is necessary to develop biocatalytic methods for these compounds. It is found that t… Show more

“…In addition, to the best of our knowledge, pharmaceutical synthesis involving enzymatic promiscuity is rarely reported. 11,12 1,4-Dihydropyridine (1,4-DHP) compounds exhibit a wide range of biological activities. [13][14][15] Among them, 1,4-DHP calcium antagonists such as felodipine, nifedipine and nitrendipine are recommended for the first line treatment of hypertension.…”
