Synthesis of an amphiphilic copolymer using biopolymer-dextran via a combination of ROP and RAFT techniques

Abstract: Ring-opening polymerization (ROP) and reversible addition–fragmentation chain-transfer (RAFT) polymerization are efficient synthetic approaches to develop self-assembled copolymers with narrow dispersity (Đ).

“…This CRP technique can provide a narrow polydispersity compared with free radical polymerization techniques. Among CRP techniques, reversible addition–fragmentation chain-transfer (RAFT) polymerization is the most efficient tool to prepare block copolymers as it can be accomplished with different monomers and in every case, it develops copolymers with a narrow polydispersity index (PDI) and a controlled molecular weight . Herein, PEG was chosen as the base material owing to its versatility, good water solubility, non-toxicity, biocompatibility, and biodegradability. , Previously, Shubin et al.…”

“…These well-organized selfassemble structures are developed through hydrogen bonding, electrostatic interaction, hydrophobic interactions as well as van der Waals force. [1][2][3][4][5][6] Presently, stimuli-responsive (such as temperature, pH, light, magnetic as well as electric field etc.) copolymers have been highlighted with significant interest for biological cause.…”

“…[27][28][29] In the last few decades, many researchers have developed pNIPAM based thermo-sensitive copolymers for drug release study. [5,6,[30][31][32][33][34][35][36] However, to the best of our knowledge, this is the first time where TKP and pNIPAM based graft copolymer have been synthesized through control radical polymerization technique and used as host molecule to study the encapsulation and release behavior of Nile red dye. Previously, many researcher used Nile red as host molecule for encapsulation and release study because it is inexpensive and easy to handle.…”
