The c o n d i t i o n s o f t e m p e r a t u r e a n d m o l a r r a t i o o f c a r b o n y l c o m p o u n d / n i t r o g e n o u s compound h a v e b e e n c h a n g e d . The b e s t r e s u l t s w e r e r e a c h e d i n t h e r e a c t i o n s b e t w e e n t h e l o w e r a l d e h y d e s a n d a n i l i n e . T h u s , 75% a l k y l i n d o l e s w e r e o b t a i n e d f r o m p r o p a n a l d e h y d e a n d 6 2 % f r o m b u t y r a l d e h y d e .
