Synthesis of Alkenylphosphonates through Palladium-Catalyzed Coupling of α-Diazo Phosphonates with Benzyl or Allyl Halides

Abstract: An efficient method for the synthesis of organophosphonates through palladium-catalyzed coupling of α-diazo phosphonates with benzyl or allyl halides has been developed. Trisubstituted alkenylphosphonates bearing versatile functional groups can be easily accessed in good yields and with excellent stereoselectivity through this method. Moreover, with similar strategy α-substituted vinylphosphonates can also be attained by the palladium-catalyzed coupling reaction of N-tosylhydrazones and aryl bromides. Migrator… Show more

“…In addition to aryl halide electrophiles, phenol-derived aryl electrophiles and activated aryl fluorides can also participate in this type of reaction. In addition to the simple N -tosylhydrazones, the coupling of functionalized N -tosylhydrazones with aryl electrophiles can produce a wide range of functionalized olefins. …”

“…In addition, methods involving metal‐catalyzed olefin methasis or Heck‐type crossing coupling of vinylphosphonates with aryl halides or aryldiazonium salts were also established. Very recently, a new strategy was reported on the synthesis of trisubstituted alkenylphosphonates via palladium‐catalyzed cross‐coupling of α‐diazo phosphonates with allyl or benzyl halides . Alkenes direct phosphonylation should be an ideal and complimentary strategy towards the synthesis of alkenylphosphonate derivatives.…”
