“…However asignificant broadening and increment of intensity of the bands centered at about 460 and 1100 cm À1 with respect to bulk TEOS can be observed. [27,28] Considering the formation of as ilica xerogel by irradiation of TEOS by an intensef emtosecond laser source, aformation mechanism shouldb ep roposed. Moreover,t he presence of the signal at 955 cm À1 indicates the presence of sylanol (SiÀOH) groups.…”

“…However,s ilica xerogels with low surfacea rea can be attractive as protectivecoatings. [27,28] Considering the formation of as ilica xerogel by irradiation of TEOS by an intensef emtosecond laser source, aformation mechanism shouldb ep roposed. In xerogel synthesis by the sol-gelp rocess, the most important step is the formationo f M(OR) nÀ1 (OH) species.…”

“…Recently, CAMPHORQUINONE (CQ) was widely used as light-sensitive initiator. 8 2-(dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA), 9,10 and ethyl 4-(dimethylamino)benzoate (4-EDMAB) as accelerators were commonly employed for the fast polymerization of dental resin composite. 11,12 Coupling agents have major impact on bonding strength between the organic and inorganic materials.…”

“…Photo‐cured dental resin composites have been widely used for restoring dental defects and caries instead of conventional metallic dental amalgam due to their sufficient strength, superior biocompatibility, and excellent esthetics . Such restorative composites generally consist of a continuous polymeric matrix (most commonly used: bisphenol‐α‐glycidyl methacrylate [Bis‐GMA] and triethylene glycol dimethacrylate [TEGDMA]) reinforced with various inorganic micro/nano fillers such as barium glass, SiO 2 , Al 2 O 3 , and ZrO 2 . With the advancement of nanotechnologies, nanoparticles have been increasingly adopted as the reinforcement in dental composites for better performances and new functionalities.…”
