Synthesis of AgWCNx Nanocomposites for the One‐Step Conversion of Cyclohexene to Adipic Acid and Its Mechanistic Studies

Abstract: A novel catalyst composed of silver nanoparticles grafted on WCN has been prepared by using a facile pH-adjusted method. The material reported in this study presents a non-mineral acid route for the synthesis of the industrially significant monomer adipic acid through the selective oxidation of cyclohexene. Ag has been stabilized in the hydrophobic matrix during the formation of the mesoporous silica material by using aniline as stabilizing agent. A cyclohexene conversion of 92.2 % with 96.2 % selectivity for … Show more

“…The spent catalyst shows Raman bands at 1350 and 1580 cm −1 region, indicative of the D- and G-band, respectively, of the carbon materials deposited on the spent catalyst. 42 The degree of the defects is determined from the intensity ratio of I D / I G . The I D / I G ratio of the spent catalyst sample was 0.85, indicating low defects and a high degree of graphitisation.…”

“…Numerous studies have investigated the reaction mechanism of the preparation of adipic acid through the catalytic oxidation of cyclohexene with hydrogen peroxide 28,29 . So far, no researchers have matched the exothermic situation in the reaction process with reaction steps.…”

“…In an attempt to check the catalyst leaching during reaction time, hot ltration test was performed. 25,44,45 Aer the SSA catalyst was ltrated under hot condition, followed by the continuation of the reaction for 30 min, no signicant improvement in the yield of DAPG was observed. Thereby, it obviously conrmed that no effective leaching of the active species from the SSA catalyst took place into the reaction medium.…”

“…To investigate the possible leaching of the active sites from the catalyst surface of SSA into the reaction medium, a hot ltration method was performed. 25,44,45 Under the optimised conditions, the Friedel-Cras acylation of phloroglucinol was carried out. Aer 5 min of the reaction, all the catalyst particles were separated by hot ltration and centrifuged.…”
