Synthesis of a novel Zn‐MOF/PVA nanofibrous composite as bioorganic material: Design, systematic study and an efficient arsenic removal

Abstract: Metal organic framework (Zn-MOF)/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) nanofibrous composite new material has been fabricated using electrospinning and is characterized by a variety of physicochemical analyses, including Fourier transmitting infrared spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy, nitrogen adsorption surface, and thermo gravimetric-derivative of thermogravimetry. In this study, the effects of a systematic study including a fractional factorial desig… Show more

“…[12] In a representative work, Zn-MOF (interaction between carboxylate and zinc ions) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) were homogeneously dispersed in acetic acid solvent followed by appropriate electrospinning process, resulting in Zn-MOF/PVA nanofibrous composite. [41] It could be clearly seen from the SEM images that Zn-MOF particles retained the original crystalline structure, and the particle size was 38 nm (Figure 9b). Incorporation of Zn-MOF ameliorate the physicochemical performance of this nanofibrous composite.…”

“…Also, modifying organic ligands or grafting organic functional groups with diversified functions is another method to achieve the desired surface area and special structure. Although solvothermal/hydrothermal, [4,39] ultrasound-assisted, [40] electrospinning, [41] microwave-assisted, [42] spray-drying synthesis [43] methods, etc. have been widely reported for synthesizing MOFs, the hydrothermal/solvothermal techniques are still the mainstay in sewage treatment applications.…”

“…Of these techniques, electrospinning is the most promise due to its simplicity, scalability, and versatility in producing high‐performance nanofibers (Li and Xia, 2004; Xue et al, 2017; Selatile et al, 2018; Xue et al, 2019). Some recent studies have used nanospun composites to treat both polluted wastewater (Sargazi et al, 2019b; Shahryari et al, 2020) and gas effluents (Sargazi et al, 2019a).…”
