“…Recently, polyether demulsifier is the most commonly used and widely used crude oil demulsifier [33,34] . Polyether‐type demulsifiers have superior operability, and can synthesize demulsifiers with different HLB values by changing the ratio of ethylene oxide (EO) to propylene oxide (PO) [35] . Compared with linear demulsifiers, multi‐branched demulsifiers have better diffusion and wetting ability, and the demulsifier molecules quickly enter the oil‐water interface [36] .…”

“…13,14 During the produced liquid treatment process, the reverse demulsifier is added to the three-phase separator to promote the O/W emulsion separation. 15,16 A favorable reverse demulsifier can relieve the load of treatment equipment and is helpful for the treated wastewater to meet the reinjection standard easily. Up to now, there are three main types of reverse demulsifiers.…”

“…[21][22][23] (2) Nonionic block polyether, the block copolymer of ethylene oxide (EO) and propylene oxide (PO). 16,21,[24][25][26] Usually, the block polyether should be designed and screened according to the properties of different types of produced liquids. It can efficiently reduce the oil-water interfacial film strength, which is beneficial to the oil droplets coalescence and the emulsion demulsification.…”

“…[23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31] During the preparation of DMDAAC-based homopolymer and copolymer, the solution polymerization, inverse emulsion polymerization, and dispersion polymerization are the common methods. In our previous work, 32 copolymer of DMDAAC and a nonionic block polyether macromonomer (PEP-65) was prepared as a novel reverse demulsifier, which has both advantages of cationic reverse demulsifier and nonionic reverse demulsifier and has very well reverse demulsification performance. It was synthesized in mixture solution of water and propylene glycol methyl ether (PGME) and we found that its polymerization phenomenon was very special, which cannot be described by any reported polymerization method.…”
