Abstract

Synthesis of 3,3,4,4-Tetrafluoro-1,2-bis(imino)cyclobutanes: A Cyclic Version ofFluorinated α-Diimines. -The synthesis of title compound (V), member of a new family of cyclic fluoro α-diimines, involves a Mg-promoted C-F bond cleavage of fluoromethylated α-diimine (I), thermal [2 + 2]-ring closure [cf. (III)→(IV)] and a final desilylation-oxidation sequence of cyclobutene (IV).
