Synthesis of 2‐amino‐4‐(2‐ethoxybenzo[d][1,3]dioxol‐5‐yl)‐4H‐pyran‐3‐Carbonitrile Derivatives and Their Biological Evaluation

Abstract: A new class of substituted 2‐amino‐4‐(2‐ethoxybenzo[d][1,3]dioxol‐5‐yl)‐4H‐pyran‐3‐carbonitrile derivatives catalyzed by Imidazole under mild reaction conditions has been developed. A variety of functionalized 2‐amino‐4‐(2‐ethoxybenzo[d][1,3]dioxol‐5‐yl)‐4H‐pyran‐3‐carbonitrile scaffolds were assembled in high yields by this catalytic protocol. The newly synthesized compounds have been characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and mass spectral data. The compounds were then evaluated for antimicrobial activities.

“…Spiroindeno [1,2]quinoxaline-11,4'-pyrans are biologically active compounds consisting of quinoxaline, indole, and pyran pharmacophores and a spiro center. Extensive pharmaceutical activities have been detected for these structural moieties such as anti-tuberculosis [13], anti-depressant [14], antibacterial [15,16], anti-fungal [17], anti-cancer [18], kinase inhibitors [19,20], anti-tumor [21,22], antioxidant [23] and anti-in ammatory [24] properties [25][26][27][28][29]. Furthermore, the medical effects of spiro compounds have been con rmed in the treatment of tuberculosis, cancer, HIV, bacterial and fungal infections [30].…”

“…Various coumarin derivatives have shown anti-viral, [15] anti-inflammatory, [16] anti- fungal, anti-bacterial, [17] anti-tumor, [18] COX-inhibitors and many more biological properties. [19] Similarly dihydropyrano coumarins, multifunctional derivatives of coumarins, have been found to show pharmaceutical properties such as antibacterial, [20,21] antifungal, [22] acetyl cholinesterase inhibitors [23] as well as other properties like lubricants additives [24] as depicted in Figure 2.…”
