Synthesis, crystal structure and other properties of the complexes of Er(III), Yb(III) and Lu(III) with 4,4′-bipyridine and dichloroacetates

Abstract: A novel mixed-ligand complexes of Er(III), Yb(III) and Lu(III) with title ligands were prepared and characterized by chemical and elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy, conductivity (in methanol, dimethyloformamide and dimethylsulphoxide). The thermal properties of complexes in the solid state were studied. The mode of metal-ligand coordination was discussed. The title compounds are isomorphic and isostructural in solid state. All atoms in studied compounds lie in general positions but occurrence of inversion… Show more

“…The IR spectra of Ln(4-bpy) 1.5 (CCl 3 COO) 3 ÁH 2 O (Ln(III) = Pr, Sm, Eu) show asymmetric m as (COO) and symmetric m s (COO) vibration of -COO groups in the range 1671-1646 and 1371-1367 cm -1 , respectively. On the grounds of spectroscopic criteria [44,[48][49][50][51] it can by stated, that in case of Pr(III), Sm(III) and Eu(III) complexes carboxylate groups are bonded as bidentate chelating ligand (the values of Dm = m as -m s of these complexes are smaller than for sodium salt Dm Na = 324).…”

“…In combination with carboxylate groups 4-bpy makes up interesting structures [35][36][37][38][39]. Our studies presented here complete series of lanthanides metal complexes with 4,4 0 -bipyridine and halogenoacetates [35,[40][41][42][43][44].…”

“…New mixed-ligand lanthanide complexes of Er(III), Yb(III), and Lu(III) with 4,4 0 -bipyridine and dichloroacetates were prepared by Czylkowska et al [116]. X-ray crystal structures of the complexes were determined as well as elemental, IR spectroscopic analysis, conductivity measurements, and thermal studies (TG-DTA-DTG) were performed.…”

“…In the literature [1,2], there are described compounds, where there is only one type of coordination of carboxylate ligands. The papers [3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10] are examples to occur different possibilities of binding COO groups in one compound.…”

“…Lu without Pm(III)) with 4,4 0 -bipyridine and di-or trichloroacetates were reported [6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]. This paper presents the results of new lanthanide complexes with title ligands.…”
