Synthesis, Crystal Structure, and Biological Property of a Dinuclear Oxovanadium(V) Complex Derived From 2-[(2-Ethylaminoethylimino)methyl]-6-methylphenol

Abstract

A new dinuclear oxovanadium(V) complex, [VO 2 L] 2 , where L is the mono-anionic form of 2-[(2-ethylaminoethylimino)methyl]-6-methylphenol (HL), has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR spectra, and single-crystal X-ray determination. The crystal of the complex is monoclinic: space group P2 1 /c, a D 7.6042 (7), b D 11.2131(9), c D 15.232(1) A , b D 97.859(3) , V D 1286.6(2) A 3 , Z D 2. The VÀ ÀV distance is 3.158(1) A . The V atoms in the complex are in octahedral coordination. The biological property against various bacteria was assayed.
