“…58 Zianna et al shows that the K SV value of [Zn(5-NO2-salo) 2 -(phen)], [Zn(5-NO2-salo) 2 (dpamH)], [Zn(5-Cl-salo) 2 (bipy)], [Zn(5-Cl-salo) 2 (dpamH)], [Zn(5-Br-salo) 2 (bipy)], [Zn(5-Br-salo) 2 (phen)], [Zn(5-Br-salo) 2 (dpamH)] towards CT DNA-EB displacement were between(1.45 AE 0.02) Â 10 4 to (5.59 AE 0.18) Â 10 5 M À1 and suggest a strong intercalation binding mode. 59 Giannicchi et al investigate the binding of Zn-salophen complexes to CT DNA and calculate the K SV value 9.4 Â 10 3 M À1 and more recently Mrkalić et al estimate a number of K SV value constant such as [Zn(bpo) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ], [Zn(bpo) 2 (bipy)], [Zn(bpo) 2 (phen)] and [Zn(bpo) 2 (dpamH)] to CT DNA between (7.63 AE 0.26) Â 10 4 and (4.90 AE 0.15) Â 10 5 M À1 suggesting a intercalation mode 60,61.…”

“…The β-diketonate ligands used in above study contain two oxygen donor atoms that co-ordinate in a bidentate manner with many transition metals such as Fe [3], Cr [4] and Mn [5], to form octahedral metal tris(β-diketonate) complexes. Similarly, the 2-hydroxybenzophenone ligands in this study, which also contain two oxygen donor atoms, are also known to have strong coordinating properties, also binding in a bidentate manner with transition metals such as Fe [6], Co [7,8], Zn [9] and Re [10], to form octahedral metal complexes containing a 2-hydroxybenzophenone ligand. We have recently reported on the redox properties of a series of 2-hydroxybenzophenone (HBP) ligands, showing that the experimental reduction potential of the unsubstituted hydroxybenzophenone ligand has a higher reduction potential compared to HBP ligands containing an electron donating substituent, such as 2hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone (HBP-OMe) or 2hydroxy-4-(octyloxy)benzophenone (HBP-Oct) [11].…”

“…Coordination chemistry of Schiff base ligands is a promising research field in chemistry because of their metal complexes having crucial role in biological systems . Some of the Schiff bases compounds have many biological activities, such as antibacterial, anticancer, antimalarial, antiinflammatory, antifungal and antiviral properties . The antimicrobial activity of transition metal complexes of Schiff base ligands depend on the existence of different substituents in the phenyl rings of aromatic Schiff bases.…”
