Synthesis, Characterization, and Photocatalytic Activities of BiVO4 by Carbon Adsorption Hydrothermal Method

Abstract: A new idea of prepared method for BiVO4 nano‐powders hydrothermal synthesis process was developed to avert the existent shortcomings of hydrothermal method. The thermal stability, phase structure, light absorption property, and morphology of the catalyst prepared were characterized by thermogravimetric analyzer (TG), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), ultraviolet visible spectrophotometer (UV/Vis), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), respectively. Using methyl orange (MO) as the target degradation material and a… Show more

“…However, because of the rapid recombination of electronhole pairs, and no visible light absorption, the optical and electrical efficiencies of pure TiO 2 are quite limited. [21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29] The photocatalytic potential of TiO 2 can be improved by doping with metals or non-metals, or by combining TiO 2 with other narrow-bandgap semiconductors to enhance photon absorption of TiO 2 in the visible light reg ion. [2][3][4]12,[22][23][24]26,27,29 Cobalt ferrite is a magnetic semiconductor material that has some unique properties such as a narrow optical bandgap, nontoxicity and a low cost.…”

“…However, as a kind of homogeneous catalyst, POMs have a low specific surface area and are difficult to separate and recover. So, it is very important to choose a suitable carrier to load POMs; the other is semiconductor photocatalyst, such as TiO 2 , which has many characteristics of non‐toxic and harmlessness, high catalytic activity, low cost and stable properties [11–14] . However, the band gap of TiO 2 is relatively wide (Eg=3.2 eV), resulting in lower utilization rate of solar energy, that limits its application scope as a photocatalyst.…”
