Synthesis, characterization and evaluations of TiO2 nanostructures prepared from different titania precursors for photocatalytic degradation of 4-chlorophenol in aqueous solution

Abstract: Background The aim of present work, was to synthesize the titanium nanoparticles (TNPs) and titanium nanotubes (TNTs) through the hydrothermal method with different precursors including the Titanium(IV) isopropoxide (TTIP) and Titanium(IV) bis(ammonium lactato)dihydroxide (TALH). Methods TiO 2 nanostructures from different titania precursors as heterogeneous photocatalysis via hydrothermal method were synthesized. The as-prepared photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, UV-Vis diffuse reflectanc… Show more

“…In paint manufacturing industries, water finds application as a solvent and also for rinsing after which it is discharged (Ntwampe et al, 2014). The wastewater contains hazardous substances that contribute to the high level of chlorinated aromatic compounds (Payan et al, 2018a;Shojaie et al, 2018), suspended solids, heavy metals (Babatunde et al 2019), biological oxygen demands, chemical oxygen demand and low level of dissolved oxygen in the aquatic bodies (Darajeh et al, 2016;Devi et al, 2008;Hami et al, 2007). Majorly, this wastewater is discharged without treatment due to the high cost and complexity associated with conventional treatment of wastewater (UNESCO, 2017).…”

“…By considering the heterogeneous content of the used wastewater and also the complexity intermediates produced during UV/H 2 O 2 /ZnO reaction that evolve inoperative a precise kinetic study of dissipate extraordinary reactions appearing within chemical oxidation, the PD reaction kinetics of COD as well as TPH can be interpreted by a modified Langmuir-Hinshelwood model in accordance with the presented works [59]. The relationship between COD and TPH concentration is illustrated via the kinetic model as Eq.…”

“…48 Cations are connected to oxygen atoms of the TiO 6 octahedron between layers of the layered titanate crystal, which was reected in the FT-IR spectrum. 49 The layered titanate with interlayer sodium ions showed a peak at 1353 cm À1 , which was attributed to the O-Na stretching vibration. 49 Therefore, the peak at 1380 cm À1 in the pH 12 sample may be due to the O-K stretching vibration.…”
