“…The bands appearing at 2933, 1560 and 1383 and 1078 cm −1 indicate the presence of different functional groups and were assigned to C-H stretching vibration, C=C stretching vibration from aromatic rings and C-O stretching or O-H deformation vibration, respectively [ 34 ]. Most of the IR bands probably arise from the flavonoids anthocyanins and phenolic compounds from the fruit extract, indicating that the phytosynthesized AgNPs were stabilized by these biomolecules [ 35 , 36 ].…”

“…Normally, scientific works involving the synthesis of AgNPs, contain a thorough characterization of the nanomaterials by these techniques, TEM, DLS, and UV-Vis spectrophotometry. For example, He et al [46] synthesized AgNPs through an eco-friendly approach, using the fruit aqueous extract of Chinese herbal Cornus officinalis. The as-synthesized AgNPs showed a λ max of 411 nm, the DLS spectrum indicated a narrow distribution of the nanoparticles with a diameter of 12.8 ± 3.5 nm, while the TEM analysis revealed that the nanoparticles presented a quasi-spherical shape, and the particle size was 11.7 nm, close to the obtained DLS value.…”

“…The same research group evaluated the preventive effects of nanoencapsulated pelargonidin against alloxan-induced DNA damaged cells (L6) by in vitro methods, and reported around ~10-fold enhancement in efficacy of nanoencapsulated pelargonidin than pelargonidin (Samadder et al, 2016). Extracts of Chinese herbal medicine named “Shanzhuyu” containing ANTs were also used for the preparation of metal nanoparticles, and unveiled promising anticancer activity against human liver cancer (HepG2) and human prostate cancer (PC-3) cell lines (He et al, 2006, 2017). Apart from the nanoformulations and encapsulation, nano packing is also considered an emerging technique for the preservation of quality in ANT-rich fruits like strawberries (Yang et al, 2010).…”
