Synthesis, Characterization, and Applications of CoFe2O4 and M-CoFe2O4 (M = Ni, Zn, Mg, Cd, Cu, RE) Ferrites: A Review

Abstract: Synthesis, characterization, and applications of the CoFe 2 O 4 and M-CoFe 2 O 4 (M = Ni, Zn, Mg, Cd, Cu, RE) ferrites produced in several routes, including combustion synthesis, were overviewed and systemized. Our collection may turn interesting to those engaged in research and development of magnetic materials.

“…The magnetic moment values obtained by experimental and theoretical calculation differ slightly given that the NFs do not follow the ideal cation distribution assumed for the theoretical calculations. 65,94 Further, the initial permeability ( μ i ) of the pure and Mn 2+ -doped CFO were obtained as follows: 95 The initial permeability also follows the same trend as the saturation magnetization with Mn 2+ substitution and varies in the range of 2.89 to 6.74.…”

“…Solid-state and solution-based approaches are the two primary groups into which ferrites' synthesis techniques may be divided. Solid-state methods, such as ceramic and sintering processes, produce ferrites with a dense and homogeneous structure, while solution-based methods, such as sol-gel, precipitation, and coprecipitation, produce ferrites with a more porous structure [9,10].…”

“…By understanding the relationship between synthesis methods and structural properties, it is possible to optimize the synthesis process and tailor the properties of ferrites for specific applications [14,15]. Mn(x)Zn(1-.x)Fe204 Co-precipitation and ceramic methods have been used to synthesis ferrites [10,16,17]. The physical and structural, of these samples have been investigated and the final ferrite product has been identified using established analytical and experimental techniques.…”

“…2 The ferrimagnetic spinels usually have a chemical formula of AFe 2 O 4 , where "A" refers to the divalent cations like Ni 2+ , Mg 2+ , Cu 2+ , Zn 2+ , Mn 2+ , Co 2+ , and Ca 2+ . 3 The beginning of research by several scientists focuses on basic ferrites. But nowadays, the research work on these ferrites is devoted to several dopants and substituents.…”
