Synthesis, characterization, and antioxidant activity in vitro of selenium-Euryale ferox Salisb. polysaccharide

Abstract: In order to obtain and explore selenide composed of selenium and polysaccharide, three parameters were selected to optimize the synthesis process of selenium-Euryale ferox Salisb. polysaccharide (Se-ESPS) by Box-Behnken design. Furthermore, ESPS-B1 separated from ESPS was selenitized to Se-ESPS-B1 by the optimal synthesis process, then the characterization, and antioxidant activity in vitro of Se-ESPS-B1 were explored. The result manifested that the Se content of Se-ESPS was (2.915  ±  0.03) mg/g according to … Show more

“…Furthermore, the protein contents of PPP and PPP-Cr(III) were 1.18% and 1.13%, indicating most of the proteins were removed completely by the Sevag reagent. Moreover, the surface and inner morphological structure were evidently different between PPP and PPP-Cr(III) by SEM and TEM results (Text S1 and Figure S1) [30,31].…”

“…According to the ideal synthesis technique for Selenium‐ E. ferox (reaction time at 5 hr, reaction temperature at 81°C, and weight ratio of Na 2 SeO 3 to E. ferox polysaccharide at 0.9 g/g), the result showed that the Se content of Selenium‐ E. ferox was 2.915 mg/g. The in vitro antioxidant tests showed that Selenium‐ E. ferox may serve as an antioxidant by scavenging DPPH, ABTS, and OH and improving reduction capacity (Dong et al, 2021).…”

“…The highlevel aspects of polysaccharide structure, such as chain flexibility and spatial conformation, are closely related to polysaccharide activity. To improve the biological activity of polysaccharides, we must investigate polysaccharide molecular modification and structural transformation [16].…”
