Abstract:This study describes a simple one-pot synthesis of N-pyridin-3-yl-benzenesulfonamide and its antimicrobial activity. The reaction of benzene sulfonyl chloride with 3-aminopyridine in the presence of aqueous Na2CO3 and HCl as a scavenger furnished the sulfonamide in 93.3% yield.
