Synthesis, Characterization and Antibacterial Activities of Chromium Oxide Nanoparticles Against Klebsiella Pneumoniae

Abstract: Objective: This paper consists of synthesis of chromium oxide (Cr 2 O 3 ) nanoparticles by sol-gel technique, their characterization and investigation of antibacterial activity of these nanoparticles against pathogenic bacteria by measuring zone of inhibition, colony forming units, and optical density (OD) on solid agar media as well as in liquid medium. Methods:The Cr 2 O 3 nanoparticles were synthesized by sol-gel technique using tetraethylorthosilicate as precursor. The synthesized Cr 2 O 3 nanoparticles we… Show more

“…The response of using graphene oxide on microorganisms has been studied extensively. However, the satisfactory results of metal oxide and graphene oxide nanocomposites have not been reported so far [17][18][19][20][21].In continuation to our earlier studies [22][23][24][25][26][27][28], in present study, we have focused on the synthesis of CuO nanoparticles by facile and cost effective sol-gel method and nanocomposite of copper were prepared with reduced graphene oxide. Antibacterial properties of the synthesized nanoparticles and nano- composites were investigated against Gram-positive and Gramnegative bacteria.…”

“…Therefore, the ultimate target of nanoscience and nanotechnology is to present opportunities for exploring the bactericidal effect of metal oxide NPs due to their high stability and nontoxic nature [1]. NPs, especially metallic ones, tend to offer an effective solution for overcoming bacterial resistance [2][3][4][5][6][7]. The transition metal oxides are attracting a great deal of attention in the field of material science due to its variety of crystal phases and properties.…”
