Plants have a long history of use in treatment of cancer, Since many years, plants were known to possess anticancer activities against different cancer cell lines. In this paper, we report a study based on anticancer properties of Dragon cinnabari resin. The resin of plant material was collected, shade dried and extracted with different solvents using soxhlet extraction procedure. In vitro anticancer activity is assayed with standard MTT colorimetric procedure against MCF-7 cell line. From the analysis it was found that Ether and Ethyl acetate of dragon cinnabari Balf. f showed nearly 50% MCF-7 cell line inhibition at 100 µg/ml tested dose, whereas other extracts did not display much anticancer activities against MCF-7 breast cancer cell line. Based on the cytotoxicity studies against MCF-7 cell lines the ether and ethyl acetate extracts could be used as potential source for anticancer drugs.

Benzimidazole derivatives are crucial structural scaffolds found in diverse libraries of biologically active compounds which are therapeutically useful agents in drug discovery and medicinal research. They are structural isosteres of naturally occurring nucleotides, which allows them to interact with the biopolymers of living systems. Hence, there is a need to couple the latest information with the earlier documentations to understand the current status of the benzimidazole nucleus in medicinal chemistry research. This present work unveils the benzimidazole core as a multifunctional nucleus that serves as a resourceful tool of information for synthetic modifications of old existing candidates in order to tackle drug resistance bottlenecks in therapeutic medicine. This manuscript deals with the recent advances in the synthesis of benzimidazole derivatives, the widespread biological activities as well as pharmacokinetic reports. These present them as a toolbox for fighting infectious diseases and also make them excellent candidates for future drug design.

In the developing countries, the medical plants play an important role in treatment diabetes mellitus. This significant comes due to their cost effectiveness. Diabetes mellitus, a metabolic disorder is becoming a serious threat to mankind health. The herbal drugs with anti-diabetic activity are till now to be commercially formulated as modern medicines, even though they have been acclaimed for their therapeutic properties in the traditional systems of medicine. In this paper, we have reported a study based on anti-diabetic properties of Dragon cinnabari resin. The resin of plant material was collected, shade dried and extracted with different solvents using soxhlet extraction procedure. In vitro anti diabetic activity is assayed with standard glucose uptake procedure against MCF-7 cell line. From the analysis it was found that, glucose uptake inducing activity of ethyl acetate extract was found to be higher than Metformin, whereas other extracts did not display much anti diabetic activity against MCF-7 breast cancer cell line. Based on the glucose uptake studies against MCF-7 cell line, the ethyl acetate extract could be used as potential source for anti-diabetic drugs.
