Overall these experiments give coherent results with T1/2 located between 320 and 335 K, a narrow range in comparison to the solid-state. DFT calculations allowed rationalizing the differences in the magnetic differences. The molecular orbital and spin density calculations reveal that the presence of the C=O group between the imidazolyl units in the ligands of 1-3 leads to an extended aromatic system, an effective -acceptor effect, stabilizing a LS state and reducing the LS-HS gap in comparison to 4.

In this investigation radical induced copolymerization reaction of vinylpyridine (VP)‐Thorium (Th(IV)) complex with pure methylmethacrylate in dimethylsulfoxide using azobisisobutyronitrile as initiator led to formation of polymer metal composite. The prepared polymer composite was characterized by elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscope and X‐ray diffraction. FT‐IR results showed that the metal ion is coordinated via the nitrogen of VP. The solubility of Th(IV) complex and the formed polymer composite in polar and non‐polar solvents was also tested. However, the conductivity measurements revealed nonelectrolytic nature of the complex. Moreover, the thermal properties of the prepared composite and their antitumor and antimicrobial activities were discussed. Additionally, in this work not only the nanocomposite as bulky materials (powder) but thin films also were deposited utilizing electrospray deposition technique. The produced films have been reduced growth of gram‐negative Escherichia coli by ∼99.1%. The morphology of the prepared film was studied by SEM and atomic force microscopy. POLYM. In this work, cross‐linked poly(1‐vinylimidazole) (PVIm) and poly(1‐vinylimidazole‐co‐acrylic acid) [poly(VIm‐co‐AA)] polyampholytes microgel were synthesized by precipitation polymerization in supercritical carbon dioxide at 14 and 20 MPa. The obtained products were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and Energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy. The results indicate that the functional monomers including 1‐VIm and AA were cross‐linked in polymers successfully. Aggregate particles with diameters of approximately 200 nm were observed by scanning electron microscopy and particle size distribution. Surface area analysis showed that the surface area of microgel prepared at a pressure of 14 MPa are 40.28 m2/g. The swelling behavior of polyampholytes microgel was studied. The cross‐linking degrees of PVIm and copolymers can reach 92.6% and 98.1%. The effect of pH values of solution, contact time, adsorbent dosage, initial Cr(VI) concentration on adsorption capacity were also investigated. The results revealed that cross‐linked polymer has a high adsorption capacity of 306.0 mg/g for Cr(VI) in 130 mg/l solution at pH 2 and cross‐linker ratio of 27.3%.
