Synthesis and thermal properties of poly(methyl methacrylate)‐poly(L‐lactic acid)‐poly(methyl methacrylate) tri‐block copolymer

Abstract: Poly(methyl methacrylate)-poly(L-lactic acid)-poly(methyl methacrylate) tri-block copolymer was prepared using atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The structure and properties of the copolymer were analyzed using infrared spectroscopy, gel permeation chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance ( 1 H-NMR, 13 C-NMR), thermogravimetry, and differential scanning calorimetry. The kinetic plot for the ATRP of methyl methacrylate using poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) as the initiator shows that the reaction time i… Show more

“…When compared curves a and b, the notable difference between them is the strong absorption peak at 1370 cm −1 , which corresponding to stretching vibration of v BO. Another difference is that there are two weak absorption peaks at 890 cm −1 and 677cm −1 in curve a, which corresponds to stretching vibration of v BOSi and in‐plane shear vibration of δ BOSi, respectively . These results suggest that boron atom has been successfully doped into the silicone resin chain in the form of SiOB bond by the method of hydrolysis‐polycondensation …”

“…This approach was also used to synthesize BAB copolymers with a polycaprolactone (PCL) central core and PDMAEMA outer blocks 34,35 and with a PLLA central core and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) outer blocks. 36 Preparation of Thick Films and Isothermal Crystallization in the POM Hot Stage. Films of 2−3 μm in thickness, denoted as thick films, were prepared by drop-casting 10 mg/mL copolymer solutions in CHCl 3 onto glass slides that had been cleaned with a freshly prepared piranha solution (1 mL of 98% H 2 SO 4 + 1 mL of 30% H 2 O 2 ).…”

“…[31][32][33] The absorption band at around 677 cm -1 corresponds to stretching vibration of B-O-Si. [34][35][36] This result suggests that boron atom has been successfully doped into the silicone resin chain in the form of Si-O-B bond by the method of hydrolysis-polycondensation. The characteristic absorption peaks of KH550 are not obvious in curve B because of trace amount of KH550 existing in Qf/BSR-KH550 composites.…”
