Synthesis and study of thermal and electrical behaviour of some polyaromatic amines

Abstract: Samples of polyaromatic amines were synthesised by chemical and electrochemical methods, using different amounts of electrolytes for the purpose of doping the polymer. These polymers were found to show electrical conductivity in the range 10−12–10−6 S/cm. A study of conductivity at various temperatures indicates the semiconducting behaviour of these polymers. Thermal analysis shows that these polymers have high thermal stability.

“…The electrochemical oxidation of p-PD in aqueous acidic medium produces p-benzoquinone as final product [38,40]. However, it has been reported that p-PD produces a polymeric powder by chemical oxidative polimerization [35,41]. The electro-oxidation of both m-phenylenediamine (m-PD) and o-phenylenediamine (o-PD) produces polymeric films [35].…”

“…The synthetic methods used by us are similar to those employed generally for polyanilines. The coPolyanilines in salt form are generally green in color and polybenzidine is brown in color, 8 so it is polymers obtained chemically from benzidine and aniline vary in color from brown to green deassumed that the predominance of one monomer over the other in the composition varies the physipending upon the comonomer composition. With increase in aniline content in the copolymer, there cal properties like color.…”

“…They can be synthesized by chemical polymerization . Chan and Rawat and their respective co‐workers reported oxidative and electrochemical polymerization of various aromatic diamines . A large classification of two‐dimensional anionic clay materials is the layered double hydroxides (LDHs) with the formula [M 2+ (1− x ) M x 3+ (OH) 2 ](A n − ) x / n ⋅ z H 2 O .…”
