Abstract:Novel homologous series 4-(4’-n-alkoxy benzoyloxy)- napthyl-1-azo-(2”-methyl)-4”-azo-2”-methyl benzene consisted of 12 members of a series. All the 12 members (ethoxy to hexadecyloxy) are enantiotropically nematogenic without exhibition of any smectogenic character. Transition temperatures and the textures are determinedby an optical polarizing microscopy furnished with a heatingstage. Textures of a nematic phase are threaded or schlieren.
