Synthesis and structure–property comparisons of hydrogenated poly(oxanorbornene‐imide)s and poly(norbornene‐imide)s prepared by ring‐opening metathesis polymerization

Abstract: BACKGROUND: Several large, randomized trials established the benefits of adjuvant trastuzumab with chemotherapy. However, the benefit for women with small, node‐negative HER2‐positive (HER2+) disease is unknown, as these patients were largely excluded from these trials. Therefore, a retrospective, single‐institution, sequential cohort study of women with small, node‐negative, HER2+ breast cancer who did or did not receive adjuvant trastuzumab was conducted. METHODS: Women with ≤2 cm, node‐negative, HER2+ (immu… Show more

“…3 A small selection of these interesting applications include cell adhesion materials, membranes, insulating materials and various optics applications. [4][5][6][7][8][9] This breadth of applications can be attributed to the fact that, as a polymer class, poly(NDI)s have been demonstrated to exhibit favorable thermal and mechanical properties, which greatly extend their range of practical applications. [10][11][12][13][14] Furthermore, ring-opening metathesis polymerization allows the preparation of well-defined random, block and alternating copolymers that extend the utility of poly(NDI)s as a system to prepare reactive and functional polymers.…”

“…On the basis of our published polymerization procedure [38], in this work, the copolymerization of NB with 1-hexene or 1-decene was examined with the catalyst system threedimensional geometry binickel complex/B(C 6 F 5 ) 3 . The copolymerization procedure was shown in Scheme 1.…”

“…However, low solubility, mechanical brittleness, weak adhesive properties and poor processibility currently hinder the application of PNB. In order to obtain more elastic optical materials holding characteristic natures of PNB, cycloolefin polymer (COP) and cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) are proved to be effective strategies [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]. Generally, COP is synthesized through vinylic polymerization of norbornene derivatives, whereas COC via copolymerization of α-olefin and cycloolefin such as norbornene.…”

“…Triethylamine was purchased from Acros Chemicals, distilled from calcium hydride, and stored over potassium hydroxide. Succinimidyl 4‐(bromomethyl)benzoate 3 , exo‐ N ‐cyclohexylnorbornene imide 5 (CyNI), and exo‐ N ‐methylnorbornene imide 6 (MNI) were synthesized as reported previously. Chemical structures of compounds 5 , 6 and C3 are shown in the Supporting Information section.…”
