Synthesis and Structure of Vanadium Halide Complexes Containing Diphosphine Ligands with Pendant Amines

Abstract: A series of vanadium(III) diiodide complexes of the formula CpV(P R N R′ P R )I 2 [Cp = η 5 -C 5 H 5 ; P R N R′ P R = (R 2 PCH 2 ) 2 N(R′); R = Et, R′ = Me (1a); R = Et, R′ = Ph (1b); R = Ph, R′ = Me (1c)] is reported. The corresponding vanadium(II) monoiodide complexes of the formula CpV(P R N R′ P R )I [R = Et, R′ = Me (2a); R = Et, R′ = Ph (2b); R = Ph, R′ = Me (2c)] were prepared in THF by reduction of 1a-c with Zn powder. We report the preparation of the vanadium(II) complexes CpV(P Ph 2 N Ph 2 )I (3) (P … Show more

“…The P‐ and N‐atoms‐bearing heterocycle can be combined with various metals in distinct oxidation states [3] . Research activities have particularly focused on cheap and abundant metals such as Mo, [4] Ni [2a,d,5] or Fe [2d,6] while also complexes with Mn, [2d] Co, [7] Cu, [8] V, [9] Cr, [10] W, [11] Pd, [4a] Au, [12] Ru, [13] Rh [14] or Pt [5a,15] were reported. Respective complexes have served as functional models for metalloenzymes, [5c,16] e. g., hydrogenases, [6a] or were used for the oxidation of alcohols [5d] or ammonia, [17] alkyne hydrofunctionalization, [6b] carbon dioxide activation [14] and dinitrogen reduction [10a] or as blue light emitters [8] .…”
