Synthesis and Structure of Compound Bis-benzylamino-silver(I) Benzylcarbamate

Abstract

A novel silver-containing compound bisbenzylamino-silver(I) benzylcarbamate with the molecular formula of C 22 H 26 N 3 O 2 Ag and structural formula of C 6 H 5 CH 2 NHCOOAg(NH 2 CH 2 C 6 H 5 ) 2 is synthesized by the reaction of benzylamonium benzylcarbamate and silver oxide. It crystallizes in triclinic crystal system and P-1 space group with a = 5.2006(5) Å , b = 14.6298(15) Å , c = 14.7246(15) Å , a = 68.729(2)°, b = 83.507(2)°, c = 85.412(2)°, and Z = 2. In the crystal, all of the silver atoms are two-coordinate, i.e., one silver atom symmetrically chelates with the two amino groups in two benzylamine molecules, while all the carboxylate groups only act as charge balancers. In addition, the crystal contains a large quantity of hydrogen bonds sustaining the stability of three-dimensional structure.
