Synthesis and structure-dependent optical properties of two new organic–inorganic hybrid antimony(iii) chlorides

Xuemei Wen,
Juan Cheng,
Peiqi Qian
et al.

Abstract: A hybrid antimony(iii) chloride exhibits a second harmonic generation response and green-yellow luminescence, demonstrating the great potential of conformationally flexible amines in the synthesis of bifunctional optical materials.

“…42,43 A similar PL phenomenon was also observed in our previously reported two organic–inorganic antimony chlorides: (C 9 H 26 N 3 ) 2 Sb 4 Cl 18 and (C 9 H 26 N 3 )SbCl 6 . 23 The shortest Sb–Sb distance between adjacent SbCl 6 octahedra in the green-yellow phosphor (C 9 H 26 N 3 )SbCl 6 is 8.645 Å, which is longer than the Sb–Sb distance in the non-luminescent (C 9 H 26 N 3 ) 2 Sb 4 Cl 18 (4.199 Å).…”

“…Recent work on organic–inorganic hybrid materials indicates that N , N , N ′, N ′′, N ′′-pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (pmdeta) is a promising SDA to direct the formation of non-centrosymmetric structures. 21–23 This prompts us to explore the structure-directing effect of this achiral amine in the tin halide system. Two new non-centrosymmetric compounds, namely, (C 9 H 26 N 3 Cl)SnCl 4 ( 1 ) and (C 9 H 26 N 3 Cl)SnCl 6 ( 2 ), were obtained in our efforts to control the valence state of tin ions in final products.…”

“…7, compared with representative compounds such as (C 9 H 14 N)SbCl 4 , (C 9 H 26 N 3 )SbCl 6 and l -H 2 his·SbBr 5 ·H 2 O, (3AP) 2 (Sb 4 F 13 ) shows great comprehensive performance. 38,52,53…”

“…This underestimation issue primarily arises from discontinuities present in the exchange correlation energy. 47–51 Analysis of the PDOS and TDOS data reveals that the CBM for each compound is predominantly formed by the p orbitals of the organic cations. In contrast, the VBM is a mixed state with significant contributions from the p orbitals of both the organic entities and the halide ions Cl or Br (Fig.…”
