“…Aromatic polyesters were prepared in quantitative yield by polycondensation of 1,4‐cyclohexanedimethanols and phthalic anhydride (Table 1). The structure of polymers, including the 1,4‐cyclohexanedimethyleneoxy group, was investigated in detail using Fourier transform IR spectroscopy, and 1 H and 13 C NMR 24. The polyester compositions were analysed based on the methylene protons of the oxymethylene group by 1 H NMR spectroscopy (Fig 2): the absorption peaks at δ 4.12 (d) and 4.23 (d) ppm represent the methylene protons of oxymethylene groups of polyesters based on the commercial diol; the former peak refers to the methylene protons in the trans isomer, and the latter was not observed in the polyester prepared from the trans diol and refers to the methylene protons in the cis isomer.…”

“…Polyamides based on cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid18 and high strength fibers spun from anisotropic melts of thermotropic liquid‐crystalline polyesters incorporating trans ‐1,4‐cyclohexyl structural units have also been documented 19. Synthesis and melt spinning of a thermotropic liquid crystal copolyester containing a semirigid cycloaliphatic spacer derived from 1,4‐cyclohexanedimethanol has also been reported 20. A transparent, amorphous polyamide incorporating aliphatic and cycloaliphatic monomers, known commercially as Grilamid TR 90 UV™, is known for its strength, stiffness, and low moisture absorption, as well as its UV weathering stability and is used in optical and automotive applications.…”
