Synthesis and spectroscopic characterization of cadmium(II) complexes of thiones and thiocyanate

Abstract: Cadmium(II) complexes of thiones and thiocyanate, [(4C¼S) 2 Cd(SCN) 2 ], have been prepared and characterized by IR and NMR spectroscopy. An upfield shift in the 4C¼S resonance of thiones in the 13 C NMR and downfield shift in N-H resonance in 1 H NMR are consistent with sulfur coordination to cadmium(II). The presence of (N-H) of thiones in IR spectra of the complexes indicates the thione forms of the ligands in the solid state; some contribution of the thiolate form was observed in one complex. The appearanc… Show more

“…Another peak around 470 cm -1 was also observed in all complexes that could be assigned to N-C=S bending vibration of Tmtu [32]. A sharp band at 2110 cm -1 for SCNstretch was observed in the thiocyanate complex indi cating its binding with cadmium(II) [33].…”

“…The research on design and synthesis of metal-organic coordination polymers is an area of substantial interest due to the potential of these materials in various applications as functional materials. [16][17][18][19][20] The aminopolycarboxylic acid ligands can act as a multi-dentate ligand, and its one of the most prominent characteristics bases on the bridging modes of the carboxylate group. [21][22][23][24][25] Because of the above mentioned characteristic, investigations of the syntheses and the structures of various complexes have always attracted the attention of chemists.…”
