Synthesis and Spectroscopic Characterisation of the First Series of Heterohimetallic Butyltin(IV) Derivatives Based on N—(1-hydroxyethyl) Salicylaldiminate Moieties

Abstract: Interaction of BuSn(OP0 3 with two equivalents of N-(l-hydroxyethyl) salicylaldimine (LH 2 ) yields homometallic complex [BuSn(L)(LH)] (1), (where L = 0C 6 H 4 CH=NCH 2 CH 2 0~ and LH = ~OC 6 H 4 CH=NCH 2 CH 2 OH). Reactions of (1) with different metal isopropoxides M(OPr'), (where Μ = Al (χ = 3) (2), Μ = Ga (χ =3) (3), Μ = Ti (χ = 4) (4), and Μ = Nb (χ = 5) (5)) and Ge(OEt) 4 afford heterobimetallic derivatives of the formulae [BuSn(L) 2 M(OPr i ). t _ 1 ] and [BuSn(L) 2 Ge(OEt) 3 ] (6), respectively.
