Synthesis and Self-Cleaning Property of TiO2 Thin Film Doping with Fe3+, Al3+, Ce3+ Ions

Abstract: Enhancing the response to visible light and inhibiting recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes is a key point for strongly improved self-cleaning performances of TiO2 self-cleaning films. In this work, TiO2 thin film doping with three different ions (Fe3+, Al3+, Ce3+) on glass substrate respectively by sol–gel method to explore the effect of ions on self-cleaning performance of TiO2 thin films. All the prepared samples are characterized by XRD, SEM, UV-Vis and water contact angle tester. Moreover… Show more

“…TiO 2 has good photohydrophilicity, insulation, high dielectric constant and good photocatalytic performance [19]. TiO 2 has good anti-fouling and self-cleaning function under the action of photocatalysis, which has attracted much attention from many industries [20][21][22][23]. When an external electric field is applied to TiO 2 nanoparticles, the separation of electrons and holes is promoted, the recombination of electrons and holes is suppressed, and the photocatalytic process is improved [24,25].…”

“…Fossil fuel is a non-renewable resource with limited reserves [1][2][3]. Over the past 140 years, we have consumed one trillion barrels of oil, and today, the world's demand for energy has exceeded 1000 barrels of oil, 100,000 cubic meters of natural gas, and 221 tons of coal per second [4]. It is clear that the consumption of fossil fuels is not sustainable in the long-term and has caused serious harm to the environment and human health [5].…”
