Synthesis and purple-blue emission of antimony trioxide single-crystalline nanobelts with elliptical cross section

Abstract: Single-crystalline orthorhombic antimony trioxide (Sb 2 O 3 ) nanobelts with unique elliptical cross sections and purple-blue photoluminescence have been synthesized. The uniform Sb 2 O 3 nanobelts are 400 600 nm in width, 20 40 nm in thickness at the center and gradually become thinner to form sharp edges sub-5 nm in size, tens of micrometers in length, and with [001] as the preferential growth direction. Self-assembly of tens of nanobelts into three-dimensional (3-D) fl ower-like nanostructures has been obse… Show more

“…In the temperature range of 293−433 K, only 2 F 2g and 1 A g peaks of α-Sb 2 O 3 are detected. When the temperature rises to 453 K, a new broadening peak appears at 142.7 cm −1 , which originates from the A g mode of β-Sb 2 O 3 confirmed by calculated and measured spectra of orthorhombic phase Sb 2 O 3 32,33 . In the 453−673 K range, both α and β phases coexist in Sb 2 O 3 flake, which is a new mixed phase.…”

“…[37][38][39][40] The bands near 2950 cm À1 correspond to C-H group symmetric stretch vibrations, and that near 850 cm À1 is mainly due to C-N bending vibrations. [41][42][43] The band near 1850 cm À1 can be attributed to C=O stretching vibrations. 44…”

“…However other signals at 590 and 687 cm −1 were identified with the reported datas corresponding to the Sb O stretching vibrations. 13 Figure 5 exhibits the typical XRD pattern of synthesized Sb 2 O 3 nanopowder and shows that all diffraction peaks can be indexed to orthorhombic phase and matched with JCPDS card no. 011-0691, thereby supporting the Sb 2 O 3 nanopowder was obtained with high purity with single phase.…”
