Synthesis and properties of novel copolymers of poly(ether ketone diphenyl ketone ether ketone ketone) and poly(ether amide ether amide ether ketone ketone)

Abstract: Newmonomers, 4,4 0 -bis(4-phenoxybenzoyl)diphenyl (BPOBDP) and N,N 0 -bis(4-phenoxybenzoyl)24,4 0 -diaminodiphenyl ether (BPBDAE), were conveniently synthesized via simple synthetic procedures from readily available materials. Novel copolymers of poly(ether ketone diphenyl ketone ether ketone ketone) (PEKDKEKK) and poly(ether amide ether amide ether ketone ketone) (PEAEAEKK) were synthesized by electrophilic FriedelCrafts solution copolycondensation of isophthaloyl chloride (IPC) with a mixture of BPOBDP and B… Show more

“…The PEKK is a methacrylate-free thermoplastic high-performance material [4] . PEKK was firstly introduced by Bonner in 1962 [5] , and since then, it has been used for different industrial and military purposes [6] . Recently, PEKK has increasingly used as a biomaterial with properties suitable for dental and medical applications [7] .…”

“…The manufacturing of PEEK polymer is done by injection molding, compression molding, computer-aided design/computer-assisted manufacture (CAD/CAM), or rapid prototyping. PEKK is an ultra-high-molecular-weight polymer with linear aromatic polyether ketone group introduced by Bonner in the year 1962 [9]. PEKK is a product of diphenyl ether and terephthaloyl chloride in which aluminum chloride and nitrobenzene are added (Figure 4 and Figure 5).…”

“…The polyaryletherketone (PAEK) family are superior performance polymers among all thermoplastic composites, as shown in Figure 1 [ 9 , 10 ]. Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and polyetherketoneketone (PEKK) are the two most common sub-members of the PAEK family launched in the engineering field in the 1980s [ 11 ]. PAEK family has a linear aromatic polyether ketone.…”
