Synthesis and Properties of [60] Fullerene-Polymethyl Methacrylate Conjugates in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide

Abstract: 60] Fullerene (C60) almost completely inhibits the polymerization of most vinyl monomers, but our investigation shows that the concentration of radical initiators and reaction conditions greatly enhances conjugation formation. In the present investigation, a series of [60] fullerene-polymethyl methacrylate conjugates was synthesized through 2,2-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN)-initiated in situ polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) under different reaction conditions in supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO 2 … Show more

“…In the presence of consortium-II, the degradation of PVC has been progressed with a sharp decrease in the number average molecular mass ranging 29.52 to 15.63 with simultaneous increase in the PDI. A remarkable increase in the PDI during 6 to 9 months in the presence of consortium-II indicates the degradation of PVC with variations in the weight average molecular mass along with Mn (Agrawal et al 2010). The reduced average molecular mass of PVC was remarkable in the presence of consortium-II over consortium-I with respect to time (Table 3).…”

“…The C 60 -PMMA conjugates have shown improved thermal stability at higher temperature with respect to PMMA. 39 The first successful encapsulation of pristine C 70 in polystyrene nanoparticles (PS-C 70 ) of controlled diameter through miniemulsion polymerisation techniques was described. Oxygen-impermeable films were prepared by dispersing PS-C 70 nanoparticles in polyacrylonitrile, these material was used as fluorescence temperature sensors.…”
