Synthesis and photophysical properties of 1,2‐diphenylindolizine derivatives: fluorescent blue‐emitting materials for organic light‐emitting device

Abstract: New blue-emitting materials based on 1,2-diphenylindolizine were designed and synthesized through a microwave-assisted Suzuki coupling reaction. The photophysical, electrochemical, and thermal properties of the 1,2-diphenylindolizine derivatives were investigated using UV-visible and fluorescence spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, thermogravimetric analysis, and differential scanning calorimetry. The 1,2-diphenylindolizine derivatives had band gaps of 3.1-3.4 eV and indicated proper emission of around 450 nm wi… Show more

“…The HOMO and LUMO energy levels and the corresponding energy gap have been mentioned in the Table . The LUMO energy levels were calculated using the formula E LUMO =‐(4.8 ‐E 1/2,Fc,Fc + + E red, onset ) eV, whereas the HOMO energy levels were measured using the formula E HOMO =‐(4.8 ‐ E 1/2,Fc,Fc + + E oxd, onset ) eV . A comparison of band gaps via UV‐vis, CV and DFT studies is given in Table .…”

“…Indolizines, a class of heteroaromatic compounds containing two condensed rings (5‐ and 6‐membered) and a bridging nitrogen atom, have been widely applied in natural products and synthetic pharmaceuticals, These types of compounds have also been applied as dyes and biological markers due to their photophysical properties . Therefore, the development of efficient methods for the synthesis of indolizines continues to attract the attention of organic chemists.…”

“…When 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of pyridinium ylides with electron-deficient olefins or alkynes is followed by oxidative aromatization (spontaneous or chemically induced) a convergent and straightforward access toward functionalized indolizines is arranged. Many excellent examples of this synthetic sequence (cycloaddition/aromatization) have been published (for examples see [75,[77][78][79][80][81][82]) as indolizine is an important skeletal structure present in many natural and synthetic bioactive molecules (for examples see [83][84][85][86][87][88][89][90][91][92][93]) and in material with photochemical properties [94][95][96][97][98][99][100][101][102]. Pivina and co-authors recently reported quantum chemical calculations on the spatial and electronic structure of pyridinium ylides, as well as the modelling of their1,3-dipolar cycloadddition reactions.…”
