Synthesis and Photoluminescence of Eu3+ Doped Sr2CeO4 via Carbonate Precursor

Abstract: Carbonate precursor of Eu3+ doped Sr2CeO4 is obtained from a mixed solution of strontium, cerium and europium nitrate using ammonium carbonate as precipitant. Calcining the carbonate precursor at different temperatures, the Eu3+ doped Sr2CeO4 phosphor is synthesized. The phase purity of the material is closely related with the calcination temperature, and the phosphor with high purity can be achieved after the precursor annealed at 1200°C. The photoluminescence performance for Eu3+ doped Sr2CeO4 depends on the… Show more

“…Xibin Yu et al [9] reported the synthesis method almost similar but they have also clearly stated that even they were not able to get a pure Sr 2 CeO 4 fired at 1000 1C. Moreover as the firing temperature was increased to 1200 1C for sol-gel synthesized material, the most predominant peaks belong to the characteristic peaks of Sr 2 CeO 4 , the same result was also observed by Shi et al [19].…”

“…A blue emitting phosphor, Sr 2 CeO 4 , has therefore been synthesized by combinatorial material synthesis by Danielson et al [2]. Subsequently other synthesis techniques like solid state reaction [3], chemical co precipitation process [4], microwave calcination technique [5], ultrasonic spray pyrolysis technique [6], pulsed-laser deposition procedure [5,7], Pechini's method [8], citrate-gel method [9], combustion method [10], microwave-accelerated hydrothermal technique [11], polymer synthesis [12], wet chemical method [13], emulsion liquid membrane system [14,15], sol-gel by single alkoxide precursor [16], laser ablation [17], microemulsion method [18] and carbonate precursor [19] have been tried to synthesize the same material. Some of the above techniques requires higher firing temperature, i.e.…”
