In this work, novel ternary composite ZIF‐67/Ag NPs/NaYF4:Yb,Er is synthesized by solvothermal method. The photocatalytic activity of the composite is evaluated by sulfadiazine (SDZ) degradation under simulated sunlight. High elimination efficiency of the composite is 95.4% in 180 min with good reusability and stability. The active species (h+, ·O2− and ·OH) are identified. The attack sites and degradation process of SDZ are deeply investigated based on theoretical calculation and liquid chromatography‐mass spectrometry analysis. The upconversion mechanism study shows that favorable photocatalytic effectiveness is attributed to the full utilization of sunlight through the energy transfer upconversion process and fluorescence resonance energy transfer. Additionally, the composite is endowed with outstanding light‐absorbing qualities and effective photogenerated electron–hole pair separation thanks to the localized surface plasmon resonance effect of Ag nanoparticles. This work can motivate further design of novel photocatalysts with upconversion luminescence performance, which are applied to the removal of sulphonamide antibiotics in the environment.

In this study, graphene quantum dots (GQDs) have been incorporated into the g-C3N4/ZIF-67 heterojunction system as a photosensitizer to enhance photocatalytic conversion of CO2-to-CO. The GQDs are deposited onto the surface of g-C3N4/ZIF-67 using a simple water bath procedure. As expected, GQDs/g-C3N4/ZIF-67 presents outstanding performance in CO2 photoreduction. Among the GQDs/g-C3N4/ZIF-67 ternary photocatalysts, 7 GQDs-CN/ZIF-67 exhibits the best photocatalytic CO2 reduction ability with a CO yield of 51.71 μmol g−1, which is 5.05 and 1.87 times more than pristine g-C3N4 (10.24 μmol g−1) and g-C3N4/ZIF-67 (27.65 μmol g−1), respectively. This result shows that upon combination of GQDs with ZIF-67/g-C3N4, GQDs can be used as photosensitizers to improve the optical absorption capacity of the photocatalyst. Furthermore, GQDs serve as electron channels, facilitating the transport of photo-induced electrons from ZIF-67 to g-C3N4, which promotes photogenerated carrier separation efficiency. This study innovatively adds GQDs to the heterojunction and applies the prepared ternary composite to the CO2 photoreduction, which inspires a novel direction for the design of non-noble metal photocatalysts.

Fabricating carbon nitride (g-C3N4) based photocatalysts with high visible-light utilization efficiency and rapid photo-generated carrier migration rate is crucial for the improvement of photocatalytic hydrogen production (PHP). Herein, we first took a simple thermal condensation polymerization route to prepare oxygen-doped g-C3N4 nanosheets (O-CNS) with porous structure. Subsequently, MoS2 microflowers were anchored onto the O-CNS surface to construct Z-scheme O-CNS/MoS2 hybrid composites via a facile ultrasound sonication method. The obtained O-CNS/MoS2 composites possessed boosting visible-light absorption capacity, revealed by the results of the diffraction reflectance spectra (DRS). In contrast to bulk g-C3N4 (u-CNB) and O-CNS samples, the obtained O-CNS/MoS2 composites displayed enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen behavior. Specifically, the O-CNS/MoS2 photocatalysts with 5wt% loading of MoS2 exhibited the highest hydrogen production rate (HPR), which was respectively 26.5 and 1.97 times bigger than that of u-CNB and O-CNS sample correspondingly. The obtained PHP results for O-CNS/MoS2 composites signified that the loading amount of MoS2 impacted greatly on the HPR, and the optimum loading amount of MoS2 was conductive to the substantial promotion of the photocatalytic hydrogen performance. This promoted photocatalytic hydrogen behavior was plausibly originated from the synergistic effect of the porous structure, the improved light absorption capacity and enhanced photoactivated carrier migration rate. In accordance to comprehensive analysis, the proposed migration and separation pathway of photoactivated carriers were put forward for interpreting the enhancement mechanism of the photocatalytic hydrogen behavior. Our work will open up an innovative strategy for the conception and preparation of novel g-C3N4 hybrid photocatalysts with boosting photocatalytic hydrogen production behavior.
