Synthesis and Performance of Transition Metal Based Perovskite Catalysts for Diesel Soot Oxidation

Abstract: In present investigation, the effect of the intrinsic factors including the structure, nature of B-site ions in the four systems LaCoO3, LaNiO3, LaFeO3 and LaZnOy perovskite-type oxide catalysts, and the external factors of catalyst-soot contacting model, and the operating parameters such as air flow rate and temperature on the catalytic performances for the combustion of diesel soot were reported. The catalysts were characterized by XRD, FTIR, SEM, and N2-sorption. Activity of the catalyst for soot oxidation … Show more

“…The higher water uptake with increasing doping level was also confirmed by infrared absorption measurements. As shown in Figure 7, besides the absorption peaks at around 856, 674, and 494 cm -1 , which are attributed to metal-oxygen bonds, [47][48][49] the peak appearing at around 1460 cm -1 with intensity increasing with increasing doping level of Sr is considered to belong to the reorientation modes of hydroxyl groups. [50] We also estimated eigen-frequencies of proton vibrations by theoretical calculation, and obtained three values of 2260, 1290, and 1040 cm -1 .…”

“…The vibration bands at 1332 and 863 cm −1 indicate the nitrate ions. The very sharp bands at 563 cm −1 indicated NiO stretching 51 . The peaks below 1000 cm −1 correspond to the LaO stretching 52 .…”

“…The very sharp bands at 563 cm À1 indicated Ni O stretching. 51 The peaks below 1000 cm À1 correspond to the La O stretching. 52 The FTIR spectra of CeNiO 3 show peaks at 3427 cm À1 for OH À stretching and peaks at 1711 to 1613 cm À1 show the OH À bending vibrations.…”

“…Inset Figure 3b depicts the infrared absorption spectrum of the LSC powder. The band at 523 cm −1 contains the La−O and Sr−O vibrations, [37] and the band at 686 cm −1 is related to the O−Co−O bonds [38,39] . Figure 3c shows the infrared absorption spectrum of SLG/LSC electrode (previous to its utilization in the SC) and only the peaks attributed to the LSC powders are observed, this occurred because the surface of the graphene layer was saturated with the LSC powder.…”
