Synthesis and luminescence study of Eu3+‐doped SrYAl3O7 phosphor

Abstract: Rare-earth ions play an important role in eco-friendly solid-state lighting for the lighting industry. In the present study we were interested in Eu 3+ ion-doped inorganic phosphors for near ultraviolet (UV) excited light-emitting diode (LED) applications.Eu 3+ ion-activated SrYAl 3 O 7 phosphors were prepared using a solution combustion route at 550°C. Photoluminescence characterization of SrYAl 3 O 7 :Eu 3+ phosphors showed a 612 nm emission peak in the red region of the spectrum due to the 5 D 0 → 7 F 2 tra… Show more

“…At higher Eu 3+ concentrations, PL intensity decreased due to the concentration quenching effect. [ 30,31 ] Insignificant energy transfer by excited ions to other ions caused an increase in PL intensity of 1 mol% (i.e. cross‐relaxation between Eu 3+ ions).…”

“…[36] The voids and porosity noted in the SEM micrographs may be due to the emission of gas and an inappropriate distribution of temperature, respectively, throughout the synthesis. [37,38] The anomaly of molecule size was due to the temperature gradient during sintering. Energydispersive X-ray analysis, also known as energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) analysis, is a technique used to identify the elemental composition of a sample or small area of interest on the sample.…”
