Synthesis and Evaluation of Properties of a Novel Cationic Waterborne Polyurethane Finishing Agent

Abstract: There is a cationic group that makes sure waterborne polyurethane self-emulsify on the main or side chain of cationic waterborne polyurethane (CWPU), which brings excellent function to cationic polyurethane, simultaneously it reduces water resistance. In this research, the good stability of CWPU was prepared as well as the water resistance and softness of cationic waterborne polyurethane film was improved. Elasticity, extensibility, weight gain rate, contact angle, TG, and structure of polyurethane had been te… Show more

“…They can enable the leather to have high gloss, abrasion resistance, low-temperature resistance, abrasion resistance, good elasticity, and good hand feel, while also preventing them from breaking. Anionic water-borne polyurethanes are the main finishing agents for leather, while cationic water-borne polyurethanes are used as sealers and primers in order to give leather a soft, natural, and plump appearance [45]. They have been used as a softener and anti-wrinkle agent for fabrics by many companies and are very popular with consumers [46].…”

“…Chemical modifications and surficial treatments consolidate the capability of textiles to protect against UVR [ 4 , 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 , 14 ]. Various methods such as dyeing, printing, urethane finishing, de-lustering, or UV absorption treatment play a vital role in comfort and protection against the UVR to the skin while worn [ 5 , 15 ]. Figure 1 depicts a general overview of the protection of textile materials owing to their structural characteristics against solar radiation.…”
