“…For ligands in which R = 2-thienyl, 2-furyl, o-MeOPh and m-Pyr, only complexes of the lighter metals (Cu, Ni, Mn) have been structurally authenticated. The only main group examples structurally characterised [25] belong to a series of organotin(IV) complexes derived from 5-(phenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thione. This series highlights Scheme 1.…”

“…Thiolates predominate for more covalent Sn centres [-SnPh 3 , -Sn( c hex) 3 , -Sn(nBu) 3 ] [26] while in the oxido oligomer [-Sn(Me 2 )O-] the thioamide configuration is favoured. [25] In this study we report the synthesis of a new class of 5-substituted 1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thiones, derived from various thiazoles, and their subsequent conversion to a series of homo-and heteroleptic bismuth(III) thiolates. The antibacterial activity of the Bi III complexes against Mycobacterium smegmatis, Staphylococcus aureus, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE), Enterococcus faecalis and Escherichia coli, and mammalian cell toxicity towards COS-7 monkey kidney cells, has been assessed and is reported alongside a comparison with our earlier studies into analogous bismuth(III) thiolates.…”
