Synthesis and crystal and molecular structure of a [diethyl (N,N-diethylcarbamyl)methylenephosphonate]thorium nitrate complex

Abstract: 261spectively. The boron atom for each of these BF4-groups was placed at coordinates calculated by averaging the corresponding fluorine coordinates. These coordinates were not refined but were recalculated periodically (final boron-boron separation = 0.50 A). The isotropic temperature factors for the boron atoms were refined. The populations for the groups refined to final values of 0.71 and 0.29.The final refinement of the structure was done by block-diagonal least-squares with two matrices. All nonhydrogen p… Show more

“…Bifunctional chelating ligands, such as carbamoyl methyl phosphonates (CMP), carbamoyl methyl phosphine oxides (CMPO), malonamides (MA) and -diphosphine oxides, are known to be effective liquid±liquid extractants for lanthanide and actinide ions from acid media Kalina et al, 1981;Horwitz & Kalina, 1984;Musikas, 1987;Mathur et al, 1991). The fundamental coordination chemistry of these ligands with lanthanide and actinide ions has been well established (Bowen et al, 1982;Karthikeyan et al, 1998;Kannan & Ferguson, 1997). This prompted us to synthesize the -disulfoxide ligand bis(phenylsul®nyl)methane, and to study its coordination behaviour with actinide ions (Rajalakshmi et al, 2003).…”

“…For this reason, the struc tures of f element complexes with known carbamoylme thylphosphoryl compounds have been examined by a num ber of researchers. [5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13] For instance, in the study of the complexation between the phosphonates (RO) 2 P(O)CH 2 C(O)NEt 2 (L, R = Et and Pr i ) and f elements, the complexes UO 2 (L)(NO 3 ) 2 , 6 Th(L) 2 (NO 3 ) 4 , 7 Ln(L) 2 (NO 3 ) 3 (Ln = La-Gd), 8 and Ln(L) 2 (NO 3 ) 3 •H 2 O (Ln = Tb-Eu) 8 were isolated and characterized by spectroscopic methods or, in a number of cases, by a single crystal X ray diffraction. In the complex es of the first three types, the ligand is coordinated via O,O bidentate fashion, while in the last type, the Ln atom is coordinated to the ligand through the phosphoryl O atom and the carbonyl O atom is hydrogen bonded to the water molecule coordinated by the metal atom.…”
