Synthesis and Characterizations of BiOCl Sheets

Abstract: BiOCl sheets with tetragonal structure have been succesfully synthesized via a hydrothermal route using BiCl3 as the starting materials. The samples are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and photoluminescence (PL) spectrum. The diameter and thickness of the BiOCl sheets can be adjusted by controlling the hydrothermal temperature and growth time. And BiOCl nanosheets can be obtained. PL spectrum of the BiOCl sheets shows … Show more

“…The peak at 1460 cm -1 is attributed to the bending vibrations of O-H groups of adsorbed water molecules and the corresponding stretching vibrations are appeared at 3531 cm -1 . The surface hydroxyl groups originated from the adsorbed water molecules on the semiconductor play an important role in the photocatalytic reactions [40][41][42][43][44][45].…”

“…The peak at 1458 cm -1 is attributed to the bending vibrations of O-H groups of adsorbed water molecules and the peak for their stretching vibrations is present at 3527 cm -1 . The surface hydroxyl groups, which are originated from the adsorbed water molecules on the semiconductor, have a noteworthy influence on the photocatalytic performance [44][45][46][47][48][49].…”

“…Copyright 2006, American Chemical Society FIGURE 4 Schematic of matrix assisted pulsed laser evaporation (MAPLE) smoother than the one from polished pellets due to rapid depolymerization of the polished pellets. [106] Jiang and co-authors utilized XRD and TEM to characterize the film morphology of PTFE atop glass slides or carbon-coated copper grids by PLD using a KrF (λ = 248 nm) laser. At a substrate temperature between 200 C and 450 C, the films comprised both amorphous and crystalline regions.…”
