Synthesis and Characterization of Water Based Acrylic Pressure Sensitive Adhesive of Surface Protection Tape

Abstract: The water based acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive was synthesized by seeded pre-emulsion polymerization, the influence of the amount of seeded pre-emulsion, and tri-functional aziridine crosslinker on the properties of the adhesive were studied. It was found that with the increase of the amount of seeded pre-emulsion, latex particle size decreases, contrasted with the increase of the viscosity, surface tension and contact angle of the emulsion; The aging performance of the adhesive can be significantly impro… Show more

“…Polyacrylate latex is commonly used for preparing film-coated fertilizer granules and can be cross-linked via the side groups of its molecular chains. For instance, acrylic acid is initially added during the polymerization process, followed by the introduction of a cross-linker that can react with carboxyl groups, such as aziridine, , polycarbodiimide, epoxide, or metal ions . Functional monomers bearing specific reactive groups, such as ketocarbonyl-hydrazide or hydroxymethyl, can also be incorporated to facilitate cross-linking.…”
